In business, one is continually faced with challenges and problems of every sort. Some businesses adopt a formal methodology to tackle them, while others merely improvise. Either way, the results of their efforts are often disappointing. Without a lasting solution, managers find the same problems resurfacing time and again.

"Beginning a new position as an interim manager can be a challenge in itself, much less having to produce measurable, effective results. Harley Lovegrove brings his years of experience as an interim manager to Making a Difference, providing tips and guidance to make your interim assignment a success. Harley's 9-Step Approach for solving a problem provides a structure to address a wide variety of issues you will encounter, especially in the early days. I recommend this book for anyone contemplating a career in interim management. "

"We read management books to find out who we are and how we can improve. Making a difference gives you a structured proven methodology on the one side but also touches on things everyone will encounter at least once in their professional career. The book makes you reflect on how you have operated in the past, it gives you guidelines on how you can improve but what I liked the most is it touches on things that make you think about doing things differently."

"Harley's book 'Making a Difference' is packed full of really useful information for entrepreneurs and managers. As an investor, it would be comforting to know that the management of the companies in which we invest, have read a book like this and understand that 'Making a Difference is about clear thought and effective action. I recommend this book to every manager that wants both to excel in business and live an enjoyable life."

An excellent guide book for all project managers, interim managers and change managers. Harley Lovegrove's book is full of practical advice on how to ensure that you have your project under control from A to Z and that you keep your eyes focused on delivering results. Besides providing methodological guidance through its tested "Nine Steps" approach, it is full of anecdotes and practical case studies that make it an enjoyable, at times entertaining, as well as an interesting read.
This is not the product of another management guru's far flung theories, but a practitioner's view based on personal experience. It focuses on a common sense approach that EVERY project manager can implement on a day-to-day basis. If you read one management book this year, it should be this one!

I’ve really enjoyed this book. In his book, Harley Lovegrove describes in a very comprehensible way a methodology for interim management on how to tackle tasks. Do not expect large (and dry) theories, but rather a series of insights gained in the daily practice, which are gathered in a logical 9-step methodology. The book consists out of two parts:  the first part explains the 9 steps, and the second part enlightens the human factor. The second part in particular I found very refreshing. You read a whole bunch of things that you actually know, but which are nevertheless good to read them op paper. The book is full of fun (and very recognizable!) anecdotes and reads very swift. This book is recommended if you want to give your professional motivation a boost!

Making a Difference distinguishes itself from many other management books by Harley Lovegrove’s easy to read style. The fun (and sometimes humorous) anecdotes refer to everyday situations everyone of us encounters in his or her life. The book is full of useful tips and methods for solving blocking situations and different problems. Sometimes obvious, but in the business (unfortunately) often misunderstood or ignored. In that sense, Making a Difference is a handy guide for those who want to optimize their problem-solving ability and / or coaching techniques. The various (usable) templates on the website are a nice addition to the book. I look forward to the sequel.

I have my own CEO dilemma’s to solve and reading your book gave me the right spirit and willingness to start the process of building up my company. This takes time and needs a lot of patience, first to understand what you want to do and next to learn how to achieve your goals without taking any false paths. You and your book have made a very good contribution to entrepreneurship. Something Flanders needs at a premium!

If you get involved in company for a project assignment where you truly have to "make a difference", this book is a must read.
I have read many business books, taken many classes, and have been involved in management assignments in small and medium companies.
I must say that this book has a special 'tone' of its own, that cuts through the fluff of many other books. Thanks to its 'no-nonsense' approach, and many examples, you feel that you have a coach on your side, to help you excel in your next project or interim management missions.

Doing an MBA after many years of project management experience and certifications you tend to think, "...yet another book in project management...". But "Making-a-difference" stands out from the crowd as it handles management of projects, whether professional or private, from the angle of managing change and focusing where the pain is: dealing with people. It gives you a real chance to see yourself in the mirror of the day-to-day reality of managing. I was impressed by the similarity of experiences and couldn't avoid make fun of my past experiences now seen in the light of simplicity. The elegant style in which it is written and the striking illustrations make it easy to pick up and retain the learning points. A must for anyone that wants to touch-base to the reality of managing projects.
